Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem has delivered an update in New York following the July 19 shooting of an off-duty U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer during what appears to have been an attempted robbery. The New York Police Department (NYPD) is actively investigating the incident. Secretary Noem is joined by federal and local law enforcement partners, including officials from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, CBP leadership and Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) division.
New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said at a news conference Sunday afternoon that the video showed one of the suspected shooters, identified as 21-year-old Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez, drawing a firearm and the Border Patrol agent also pulling out a handgun to defend himself, according to abc NEWS.
Secretary Kristi Noem also posted the following to X about the first suspect, Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez:

Later she also posted about the second suspect’s capture by ICE, Christhian Aybar-Berroa:
